Schonensche Straße, Berlin
InformationXLocated on Schonensche Straße in Berlin-Pankow, a former commercial site is being thoughtfully transformed into a residential development. The project comprises a six-story front building with an additional top floor, as well as a three-story garden building. In total, 140 apartments are being created, mainly compact two-room units with highly efficient layouts. The buildings are designed using a resource-efficient timber hybrid construction system and are aiming for DGNB Gold certification, underscoring a commitment to sustainable, future-oriented development. Timber plays a central role in the construction, particularly in the garden building. A restrained color palette introduces a calm counterpoint to the vibrant surroundings, giving the ensemble a clear and contemporary identity. At the same time, the proportions, façade articulation, and building heights are carefully calibrated to integrate seamlessly into the existing neighborhood. Subtle color accents within the courtyard establish a gentle dialogue with the surrounding urban context.
